1 לְדָוִד רִיבָה יְהוָה אֶת־יְרִיבַי לְחַם אֶת־לֹחֲמָי׃
1 [A Psalm] of David. Strive, O LORD, with them that strive with me; Fight against them that fight against me.
2 הַחֲזֵק מָגֵן וְצִנָּה וְקוּמָה בְּעֶזְרָתִי׃
2 Take hold of shield and buckler, And rise up to my help.
3 וְהָרֵק חֲנִית וּסְגֹר לִקְרַאת רֹדְפָי אֱמֹר לְנַפְשִׁי יְשֻׁעָתֵךְ אָנִי׃
3 Draw out also the spear, and the battle-axe, against them that pursue me; Say unto my soul: 'I am Thy salvation.'
4 יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיִכָּלְמוּ מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשִׁי יִסֹּגוּ אָחוֹר וְיַחְפְּרוּ חֹשְׁבֵי רָעָתִי׃
4 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion that seek after my soul; Let them be turned back and be abashed that devise my hurt.
5 יִהְיוּ כְּמֹץ לִפְנֵי־רוּחַ וּמַלְאַךְ יְהוָה דּוֹחֶה׃
5 Let them be as chaff before the wind, The angel of the LORD thrusting them.
6 יְהִי־דַרְכָּם חֹשֶׁךְ וַחֲלַקְלַקּוֹת וּמַלְאַךְ יְהוָה רֹדְפָם׃
6 Let their way be dark and slippery, The angel of the LORD pursuing them.
7 כִּי־חִנָּם טָמְנוּ־לִי שַׁחַת רִשְׁתָּם חִנָּם חָפְרוּ לְנַפְשִׁי׃
7 For without cause have they hid for me the pit, even their net, Without cause have they digged for my soul. .
8 תְּבוֹאֵהוּ שׁוֹאָה לֹא־יֵדָע וְרִשְׁתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר־טָמַן תִּלְכְּדוֹ בְּשׁוֹאָה יִפָּל־בָּהּ׃
8 Let destruction come upon him unawares; And let his net that he hath hid catch himself; With destruction let him fall therein.
9 וְנַפְשִׁי תָּגִיל בַּיהוָה תָּשִׂישׂ בִּישׁוּעָתוֹ׃
9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD; It shall rejoice in His salvation.
10 כָּל עַצְמוֹתַי תֹּאמַרְנָה יְהוָה מִי כָמוֹךָ מַצִּיל עָנִי מֵחָזָק מִמֶּנּוּ וְעָנִי וְאֶבְיוֹן מִגֹּזְלוֹ׃
10 All my bones shall say: 'LORD, who is like unto Thee, Who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, Yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?'
11 יְקוּמוּן עֵדֵי חָמָס אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יָדַעְתִּי יִשְׁאָלוּנִי׃
11 Unrighteous witnesses rise up; They ask me of things that I know not.
12 יְשַׁלְּמוּנִי רָעָה תַּחַת טוֹבָה שְׁכוֹל לְנַפְשִׁי׃
12 They repay me evil for good; Bereavement is come to my soul.
13 וַאֲנִי בַּחֲלוֹתָם לְבוּשִׁי שָׂק עִנֵּיתִי בַצּוֹם נַפְשִׁי וּתְפִלָּתִי עַל־חֵיקִי תָשׁוּב׃
13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth, I afflicted my soul with fasting; And my prayer, may it return into mine own bosom.
14 כְּרֵעַ־כְּאָח לִי הִתְהַלָּכְתִּי כַּאֲבֶל־אֵם קֹדֵר שַׁחוֹתִי׃
14 I went about as though it had been my friend or my brother; I bowed down mournful, as one that mourneth for his mother.
15 וּבְצַלְעִי שָׂמְחוּ וְנֶאֱסָפוּ נֶאֶסְפוּ עָלַי נֵכִים וְלֹא יָדַעְתִּי קָרְעוּ וְלֹא־דָמּוּ׃
15 But when I halt they rejoice, and gather themselves together; The abjects gather themselves together against me, and those whom I know not; They tear me, and cease not;
16 בְּחַנְפֵי לַעֲגֵי מָעוֹג חָרֹק עָלַי שִׁנֵּימוֹ׃
16 With the profanest mockeries of backbiting They gnash at me with their teeth.
17 אֲדֹנָי כַּמָּה תִּרְאֶה הָשִׁיבָה נַפְשִׁי מִשֹּׁאֵיהֶם מִכְּפִירִים יְחִידָתִי׃
17 Lord, how long wilt Thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, Mine only one from the lions.
18 אוֹדְךָ בְּקָהָל רָב בְּעַם עָצוּם אֲהַלְלֶךָּ׃
18 I will give Thee thanks in the great congregation; I will praise Thee among a numerous people.
19 אַל־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִי אֹיְבַי שֶׁקֶר שֹׂנְאַי חִנָּם יִקְרְצוּ־עָיִן׃
19 Let not them that are wrongfully mine enemies rejoice over me; Neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.
20 כִּי לֹא שָׁלוֹם יְדַבֵּרוּ וְעַל רִגְעֵי־אֶרֶץ דִּבְרֵי מִרְמוֹת יַחֲשֹׁבוּן׃
20 For they speak not peace; But they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.
21 וַיַּרְחִיבוּ עָלַי פִּיהֶם אָמְרוּ הֶאָח הֶאָח רָאֲתָה עֵינֵינוּ׃
21 Yea, they open their mouth wide against me; They say: 'Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.'
22 רָאִיתָה יְהוָה אַל־תֶּחֱרַשׁ אֲדֹנָי אֲל־תִּרְחַק מִמֶּנִּי׃
22 Thou hast seen, O LORD; keep not silence; O Lord, be not far from me.
23 הָעִירָה וְהָקִיצָה לְמִשְׁפָּטִי אֱלֹהַי וַאדֹנָי לְרִיבִי׃
23 Rouse Thee, and awake to my judgment, Even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 שָׁפְטֵנִי כְצִדְקְךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהָי וְאַל־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִי׃
24 Judge me, O LORD my God, according to Thy righteousness; And let them not rejoice over me.
25 אַל־יֹאמְרוּ בְלִבָּם הֶאָח נַפְשֵׁנוּ אַל־יֹאמְרוּ בִּלַּעֲנוּהוּ׃
25 Let them not say in their heart: 'Aha, we have our desire'; Let them not say: 'We have swallowed him up.'
26 יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיַחְפְּרוּ יַחְדָּו שְׂמֵחֵי רָעָתִי יִלְבְּשׁוּ־בֹשֶׁת וּכְלִמָּה הַמַּגְדִּילִים עָלָי׃
26 Let them be ashamed and abashed together that rejoice at my hurt; Let them be clothed with shame and confusion that magnify themselves against me. .
27 יָרֹנּוּ וְיִשְׂמְחוּ חֲפֵצֵי צִדְקִי וְיֹאמְרוּ תָמִיד יִגְדַּל יְהוָה הֶחָפֵץ שְׁלוֹם עַבְדּוֹ׃
27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that delight in my righteousness; Yea, let them say continually: 'Magnified be the LORD, Who delighteth in the peace of His servant.'
28 וּלְשׁוֹנִי תֶּהְגֶּה צִדְקֶךָ כָּל־הַיּוֹם תְּהִלָּתֶךָ׃
28 And my tongue shall speak of Thy righteousness, And of Thy praise all the day.
Psalm 36 · תְּהִלִּים 36Open / close
1 לַמְנַצֵּחַ לְעֶבֶד־יְהוָה לְדָוִד׃
1 For the Leader. [A Psalm] of David the servant of the LORD.
2 נְאֻם־פֶּשַׁע לָרָשָׁע בְּקֶרֶב לִבִּי אֵין־פַּחַד אֱלֹהִים לְנֶגֶד עֵינָיו׃
2 Transgression speaketh to the wicked, methinks— There is no fear of God before his eyes.
3 כִּי־הֶחֱלִיק אֵלָיו בְּעֵינָיו לִמְצֹא עֲוֺנוֹ לִשְׂנֹא׃
3 For it flattereth him in his eyes, Until his iniquity be found, and he be hated.
4 דִּבְרֵי־פִיו אָוֶן וּמִרְמָה חָדַל לְהַשְׂכִּיל לְהֵיטִיב׃
4 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit; He hath left off to be wise, to do good.
5 אָוֶן יַחְשֹׁב עַל־מִשְׁכָּבוֹ יִתְיַצֵּב עַל־דֶּרֶךְ לֹא־טוֹב רָע לֹא יִמְאָס׃
5 He deviseth iniquity upon his bed; He setteth himself in a way that is not good; He abhorreth not evil.
6 יְהוָה בְּהַשָּׁמַיִם חַסְדֶּךָ אֱמוּנָתְךָ עַד־שְׁחָקִים׃
6 Thy lovingkindness, O LORD, is in the heavens; Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the skies.
7 צִדְקָתְךָ כְּהַרְרֵי־אֵל מִשְׁפָּטֶךָ תְּהוֹם רַבָּה אָדָם־וּבְהֵמָה תוֹשִׁיעַ יְהוָה׃
7 Thy righteousness is like the mighty mountains; Thy judgments are like the great deep; Man and beast Thou preservest, O LORD.
8 מַה־יָּקָר חַסְדְּךָ אֱלֹהִים וּבְנֵי אָדָם בְּצֵל כְּנָפֶיךָ יֶחֱסָיוּן׃
8 How precious is Thy lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Thy wings.
9 יִרְוְיֻן מִדֶּשֶׁן בֵּיתֶךָ וְנַחַל עֲדָנֶיךָ תַשְׁקֵם׃
9 They are abundantly satisfied with the fatness of Thy house; And Thou makest them drink of the river of Thy pleasures.
10 כִּי־עִמְּךָ מְקוֹר חַיִּים בְּאוֹרְךָ נִרְאֶה־אוֹר׃
10 For with Thee is the fountain of life; In Thy light do we see light.
11 מְשֹׁךְ חַסְדְּךָ לְיֹדְעֶיךָ וְצִדְקָתְךָ לְיִשְׁרֵי־לֵב׃
11 O continue Thy lovingkindness unto them that know Thee; And Thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
12 אַל־תְּבוֹאֵנִי רֶגֶל גַּאֲוָה וְיַד־רְשָׁעִים אַל־תְּנִדֵנִי׃
12 Let not the foot of pride overtake me, And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
13 שָׁם נָפְלוּ פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן דֹּחוּ וְלֹא־יָכְלוּ קוּם׃
13 There are the workers of iniquity fallen; They are thrust down, and are not able to rise.
Psalm 37 · תְּהִלִּים 37Open / close
1 לְדָוִד אַל־תִּתְחַר בַּמְּרֵעִים אַל־תְּקַנֵּא בְּעֹשֵׂי עַוְלָה׃
1 [A Psalm] of David. Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, neither be thou envious against them that work unrighteousness.
2 כִּי כֶחָצִיר מְהֵרָה יִמָּלוּ וּכְיֶרֶק דֶּשֶׁא יִבּוֹלוּן׃
2 For they shall soon wither like the grass, and fade as the green herb.
3 בְּטַח בַּיהוָה וַעֲשֵׂה־טוֹב שְׁכָן־אֶרֶץ וּרְעֵה אֱמוּנָה׃
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land, and cherish faithfulness.
4 וְהִתְעַנַּג עַל־יְהוָה וְיִתֶּן־לְךָ מִשְׁאֲלֹת לִבֶּךָ׃
4 So shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and He shall give thee the petitions of thy heart.
5 גּוֹל עַל־יְהוָה דַּרְכֶּךָ וּבְטַח עָלָיו וְהוּא יַעֲשֶׂה׃
5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass.
6 וְהוֹצִיא כָאוֹר צִדְקֶךָ וּמִשְׁפָּטֶךָ כַּצָּהֳרָיִם׃
6 And He will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light, and thy right as the noonday.
7 דּוֹם לַיהוָה וְהִתְחוֹלֵל לוֹ אַל־תִּתְחַר בְּמַצְלִיחַ דַּרְכּוֹ בְּאִישׁ עֹשֶׂה מְזִמּוֹת׃
7 Resign thyself unto the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8 הֶרֶף מֵאַף וַעֲזֹב חֵמָה אַל־תִּתְחַר אַךְ־לְהָרֵעַ׃
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; fret not thyself, it tendeth only to evil-doing.
9 כִּי־מְרֵעִים יִכָּרֵתוּן וְקֹוֵי יְהוָה הֵמָּה יִירְשׁוּ־אָרֶץ׃
9 For evil-doers shall be cut off; but those that wait for the LORD, they shall inherit the land.
10 וְעוֹד מְעַט וְאֵין רָשָׁע וְהִתְבּוֹנַנְתָּ עַל־מְקוֹמוֹ וְאֵינֶנּוּ׃
10 And yet a little while, and the wicked is no more; yea, thou shalt look well at his place, and he is not.
11 וַעֲנָוִים יִירְשׁוּ־אָרֶץ וְהִתְעַנְּגוּ עַל־רֹב שָׁלוֹם׃
11 But the humble shall inherit the land, and delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12 זֹמֵם רָשָׁע לַצַּדִּיק וְחֹרֵק עָלָיו שִׁנָּיו׃
12 The wicked plotteth against the righteous, and gnasheth at him with his teeth.
13 אֲדֹנָי יִשְׂחַק־לוֹ כִּי־רָאָה כִּי־יָבֹא יוֹמוֹ׃
13 The Lord doth laugh at him; for He seeth that his day is coming.
14 חֶרֶב פָּתְחוּ רְשָׁעִים וְדָרְכוּ קַשְׁתָּם לְהַפִּיל עָנִי וְאֶבְיוֹן לִטְבוֹחַ יִשְׁרֵי־דָרֶךְ׃
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow; to cast down the poor and needy, to slay such as are upright in the way;
15 חַרְבָּם תָּבוֹא בְלִבָּם וְקַשְּׁתוֹתָם תִּשָּׁבַרְנָה׃
15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
16 טוֹב־מְעַט לַצַּדִּיק מֵהֲמוֹן רְשָׁעִים רַבִּים׃
16 Better is a little that the righteous hath than the abundance of many wicked.
17 כִּי זְרוֹעוֹת רְשָׁעִים תִּשָּׁבַרְנָה וְסוֹמֵךְ צַדִּיקִים יְהוָה׃
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
18 יוֹדֵעַ יְהוָה יְמֵי תְמִימִם וְנַחֲלָתָם לְעוֹלָם תִּהְיֶה׃
18 The LORD knoweth the days of them that are wholehearted; and their inheritance shall be for ever.
19 לֹא־יֵבֹשׁוּ בְּעֵת רָעָה וּבִימֵי רְעָבוֹן יִשְׂבָּעוּ׃
19 They shall not be ashamed in the time of evil; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
20 כִּי רְשָׁעִים יֹאבֵדוּ וְאֹיְבֵי יְהוָה כִּיקַר כָּרִים כָּלוּ בֶעָשָׁן כָּלוּ׃
20 For the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs— They shall pass away in smoke, they shall pass away.
21 לֹוֶה רָשָׁע וְלֹא יְשַׁלֵּם וְצַדִּיק חוֹנֵן וְנוֹתֵן׃
21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not; but the righteous dealeth graciously, and giveth.
22 כִּי מְבֹרָכָיו יִירְשׁוּ אָרֶץ וּמְקֻלָּלָיו יִכָּרֵתוּ׃
22 For such as are blessed of Him shall inherit the land; and they that are cursed of Him shall be cut off.
23 מֵיְהוָה מִצְעֲדֵי־גֶבֶר כּוֹנָנוּ וְדַרְכּוֹ יֶחְפָּץ׃
23 It is of the LORD that a man's goings are established; and He delighted in his way.
24 כִּי־יִפֹּל לֹא־יוּטָל כִּי־יְהוָה סוֹמֵךְ יָדוֹ׃
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the LORD upholdeth his hand.
25 נַעַר הָיִיתִי גַּם־זָקַנְתִּי וְלֹא־רָאִיתִי צַדִּיק נֶעֱזָב וְזַרְעוֹ מְבַקֶּשׁ־לָחֶם׃
25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26 כָּל־הַיּוֹם חוֹנֵן וּמַלְוֶה וְזַרְעוֹ לִבְרָכָה׃
26 All the day long he dealeth graciously, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
27 סוּר מֵרָע וַעֲשֵׂה־טוֹב וּשְׁכֹן לְעוֹלָם׃
27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
28 כִּי יְהוָה אֹהֵב מִשְׁפָּט וְלֹא־יַעֲזֹב אֶת־חֲסִידָיו לְעוֹלָם נִשְׁמָרוּ וְזֶרַע רְשָׁעִים נִכְרָת׃
28 For the LORD loveth justice, And forsaketh not His saints; they are preserved for ever; but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 צַדִּיקִים יִירְשׁוּ־אָרֶץ וְיִשְׁכְּנוּ לָעַד עָלֶיהָ׃
29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
30 פִּי־צַדִּיק יֶהְגֶּה חָכְמָה וּלְשׁוֹנוֹ תְּדַבֵּר מִשְׁפָּט׃
30 The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, and his tongue speaketh justice.
31 תּוֹרַת אֱלֹהָיו בְּלִבּוֹ לֹא תִמְעַד אֲשֻׁרָיו׃
31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps slide.
32 צוֹפֶה רָשָׁע לַצַּדִּיק וּמְבַקֵּשׁ לַהֲמִיתוֹ׃
32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
33 יְהוָה לֹא־יַעַזְבֶנּוּ בְיָדוֹ וְלֹא יַרְשִׁיעֶנּוּ בְּהִשָּׁפְטוֹ׃
33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor suffer him to be condemned when he is judged.
34 קַוֵּה אֶל־יְהוָה וּשְׁמֹר דַּרְכּוֹ וִירוֹמִמְךָ לָרֶשֶׁת אָרֶץ בְּהִכָּרֵת רְשָׁעִים תִּרְאֶה׃
34 Wait for the LORD, and keep His way, and He will exalt thee to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
35 רָאִיתִי רָשָׁע עָרִיץ וּמִתְעָרֶה כְּאֶזְרָח רַעֲנָן׃
35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a leafy tree in its native soil.
36 וַיַּעֲבֹר וְהִנֵּה אֵינֶנּוּ וָאֲבַקְשֵׁהוּ וְלֹא נִמְצָא׃
36 But one passed by, and, lo, he was not; yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
37 שְׁמָר־תָּם וּרְאֵה יָשָׁר כִּי־אַחֲרִית לְאִישׁ שָׁלוֹם׃
37 Mark the man of integrity, and behold the upright; for there is a future for the man of peace.
38 וּפֹשְׁעִים נִשְׁמְדוּ יַחְדָּו אַחֲרִית רְשָׁעִים נִכְרָתָה׃
38 But transgressors shall be destroyed together; the future of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 וּתְשׁוּעַת צַדִּיקִים מֵיְהוָה מָעוּזָּם בְּעֵת צָרָה׃
39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD; He is their stronghold in the time of trouble.
40 וַיַּעְזְרֵם יְהוָה וַיְפַלְּטֵם יְפַלְּטֵם מֵרְשָׁעִים וְיוֹשִׁיעֵם כִּי־חָסוּ בוֹ׃
40 And the LORD helpeth them, and delivereth them; He delivereth them from the wicked, and saveth them, because they have taken refuge in Him.
Psalm 38 · תְּהִלִּים 38Open / close
1 מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד לְהַזְכִּיר׃
1 A Psalm of David, to make memorial.
2 יְהוָה אַל־בְּקֶצְפְּךָ תוֹכִיחֵנִי וּבַחֲמָתְךָ תְיַסְּרֵנִי׃
2 O LORD, rebuke me not in Thine anger; neither chasten me in Thy wrath.
3 כִּי־חִצֶּיךָ נִחֲתוּ בִי וַתִּנְחַת עָלַי יָדֶךָ׃
3 For Thine arrows are gone deep into me, and Thy hand is come down upon me.
4 אֵין־מְתֹם בִּבְשָׂרִי מִפְּנֵי זַעְמֶךָ אֵין־שָׁלוֹם בַּעֲצָמַי מִפְּנֵי חַטָּאתִי׃
4 There is no soundness in my flesh because of Thine indignation; neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin.
5 כִּי עֲוֺנֹתַי עָבְרוּ רֹאשִׁי כְּמַשָּׂא כָבֵד יִכְבְּדוּ מִמֶּנִּי׃
5 For mine iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
6 הִבְאִישׁוּ נָמַקּוּ חַבּוּרֹתָי מִפְּנֵי אִוַּלְתִּי׃
6 My wounds are noisome, they fester, because of my foolishness.
7 נַעֲוֵיתִי שַׁחֹתִי עַד־מְאֹד כָּל־הַיּוֹם קֹדֵר הִלָּכְתִּי׃
7 I am bent and bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day.
8 כִּי־כְסָלַי מָלְאוּ נִקְלֶה וְאֵין מְתֹם בִּבְשָׂרִי׃
8 For my loins are filled with burning; and there is no soundness in my flesh.
9 נְפוּגוֹתִי וְנִדְכֵּיתִי עַד־מְאֹד שָׁאַגְתִּי מִנַּהֲמַת לִבִּי׃
9 I am benumbed and sore crushed; I groan by reason of the moaning of my heart.
10 אֲדֹנָי נֶגְדְּךָ כָל־תַּאֲוָתִי וְאַנְחָתִי מִמְּךָ לֹא־נִסְתָּרָה׃
10 Lord, all my desire is before Thee; and my sighing is not hid from Thee.
11 לִבִּי סְחַרְחַר עֲזָבַנִי כֹחִי וְאוֹר־עֵינַי גַּם־הֵם אֵין אִתִּי׃
11 My heart fluttereth, my strength faileth me; as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.
12 אֹהֲבַי וְרֵעַי מִנֶּגֶד נִגְעִי יַעֲמֹדוּ וּקְרוֹבַי מֵרָחֹק עָמָדוּ׃
12 My friends and my companions stand aloof from my plague; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
13 וַיְנַקְשׁוּ מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשִׁי וְדֹרְשֵׁי רָעָתִי דִּבְּרוּ הַוּוֹת וּמִרְמוֹת כָּל־הַיּוֹם יֶהְגּוּ׃
13 They also that seek after my life lay snares for me; and they that seek my hurt speak crafty devices, and utter deceits all the day.
14 וַאֲנִי כְחֵרֵשׁ לֹא אֶשְׁמָע וּכְאִלֵּם לֹא יִפְתַּח־פִּיו׃
14 But I am as a deaf man, I hear not; and I am as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
15 וָאֱהִי כְּאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר לֹא־שֹׁמֵעַ וְאֵין בְּפִיו תּוֹכָחוֹת׃
15 Yea, I am become as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no arguments.
16 כִּי־לְךָ יְהוָה הוֹחָלְתִּי אַתָּה תַעֲנֶה אֲדֹנָי אֱלֹהָי׃
16 For in Thee, O LORD, do I hope; Thou wilt answer, O Lord my God.
17 כִּי־אָמַרְתִּי פֶּן־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִי בְּמוֹט רַגְלִי עָלַי הִגְדִּילוּ׃
17 For I said: 'Lest they rejoice over me; when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.'
18 כִּי־אֲנִי לְצֶלַע נָכוֹן וּמַכְאוֹבִי נֶגְדִּי תָמִיד׃
18 For I am ready to halt, and my pain is continually before me.
19 כִּי־עֲוֺנִי אַגִּיד אֶדְאַג מֵחַטָּאתִי׃
19 For I do declare mine iniquity; I am full of care because of my sin.
20 וְאֹיְבַי חַיִּים עָצֵמוּ וְרַבּוּ שֹׂנְאַי שָׁקֶר׃
20 But mine enemies are strong in health; and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
21 וּמְשַׁלְּמֵי רָעָה תַּחַת טוֹבָה יִשְׂטְנוּנִי תַּחַת רדופי־[רָדְפִי־] טוֹב׃
21 They also that repay evil for good are adversaries unto me, because I follow the thing that is good.
22 אַל־תַּעַזְבֵנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהַי אַל־תִּרְחַק מִמֶּנִּי׃
22 Forsake me not, O LORD; O my God, be not far from me.
23 חוּשָׁה לְעֶזְרָתִי אֲדֹנָי תְּשׁוּעָתִי׃
23 Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation.
